Priority
Summer Hunger and Food Rescue
For years, I have worked directly with families experiencing food insecurity. I know hunger is not a talking point — it is a daily reality for thousands of Tennessee children.
I believe Congress should strengthen partnerships that ensure nutritious food reaches children instead of landfills.
Devante’s Plan
As Your Representative, I Will Work To:
- Expand access to federal summer nutrition programs so children continue receiving healthy meals while school is out
- Encourage food rescue partnerships that connect grocery stores, restaurants, farms, food banks, schools, and nonprofits to reduce food waste
- Increase incentives for businesses that donate safe, surplus food
- Support local agriculture by connecting Tennessee farmers with food banks and community feeding programs
- Invest in mobile food distribution, rural meal delivery, and neighborhood food access initiatives
- Reduce food waste while improving nutrition for children, seniors, and working families
“No Child Should Go Hungry Because School Is Out”
Hunger should never coexist with abundance. We can feed our communities while supporting Tennessee farmers and reducing unnecessary waste.
